Complementary Medicines – Safe and Effective

At Salus, the only complementary, or natural, medicines dispensed are strictly prescription only medicines.

Our medicines are sourced from the leading manufacturers in Australia and overseas and all are registered and comply with the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s high standards.

It is comforting for our patients to know that at Salus, only practitioners with at least four years university training in complementary medicine are able to prescribe complementary medicine. Your Salus naturopath or doctor is the most qualified person to advise you of any interactions between your natural medicines and any prescription drugs and will encourage an open working relationship with your doctor as required.

Stringent Regulation

Under the Therapeutic Goods Administration, Australia has some of the strictest regulations in the world for complementary medicines. Most other countries, such as countries within the UK, New Zealand and the United States, allow complementary medicines to be sold as foods without any need for evaluation of pharmaceutical standard of manufacture.

There is a wealth of high quality published scientific evidence demonstrating safety and efficacy in disease treatment of prescription only complementary medicines. Obviously, the same efficacy cannot be expected of over the counter medicines which naturally have lower doses and are not subjected to the stringent processes of efficacy as prescription only medicines.
