Areas of specialty and approach to treatment

As a complementary medicine practitioner of 21 years standing, Heyltje has the skills and experience to treat and support people from all walks of life, presenting with a vast range of concerns.
Naturopathy which incorporates modalities such as nutrition, herbal medicine and homeopathy have as their tenet that disease is the communication system within the body that illustrates or alerts of a dysregulated state.

Heyltje therefore does not treat diseases, but instead treats the individual presenting with the disease. Together therefore, Heyltje and her patients work as a team, remembering and collecting history and ‘clues’, in order to piece together the evolving puzzle. In this way intelligent and relevant decisions can be made as to what the condition is, how it began, what kept it going, and what is the best way to resolve it.
This investigative process takes time and patience, but most people respect the process, realizing already that knowing the cause treats better than alleviating symptoms only.

A comprehensive selection of tests are available to assist the process and Heyltje utilizes both standard pathology screens and what is termed functional pathology tests, which includes: salivary hormone and adrenal panels, digestive and stool tests, urinary screenings for toxic metals, hair analysis, live blood analysis, functional brain mapping, quantitative EEG and there are many others to chose from.

Research continues to support that most disease conditions are triggered by our interaction with the environment, both our internal environment and our external one, that genetic susceptibilities can be involved, therefore the use of tests can assist in identifying what factors are at play and what measures should be employed for the best outcomes.

Mental Health conditions are not separate to this finding and mental health issues are greatly improved with holistic and comprehensive treatment approaches.

In 2006, 07 and 09, Heyltje attended the International Summit on Mental Health; a recognized forum for the presentations of research and the training applications of Complementary Medicines practices for the support and treatments of psychological and neurological problems in both children and adults.

Childhood neurological problems, including Autism which is at the extreme end of this neurological spectrum, have better outcomes when the child is assessed and treated as an individual, screened thoroughly for ‘whole body’ errors and treatments are selected in accordance to the findings of these types of assessments.

Assisting all children to reach their full potential is indeed a passion of Heyltje’s, and she welcomes any inquiries.

Heyltje’s vast experience and clinical expertise combined with her passion to assist all individuals to reach their full health potential make her a valued member of the Salus practitioner team.
