QEEG - Quantitative Electroencephalography

QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography) or Brain Mapping
Now available at Salus with Dr. Stephen Sexton beginning Monday, Dec.7th 2009

Why QEEG:
QEEG is a highly sensitive and scientifically validated means of measuring the brain’s function. It measures the brain’s ‘neurobiology’, which pertains to our behaviors and determines our functions.

The brain is an electrical system and QEEG measures the activity at 24 spots on the head’s surface with positioned electrodes. The analysis clearly graphs the individual brain wave patterns and from the analysis information is obtained as to:

    • The general health of the brain
    • Marked working differences in areas of the brain
    • Identification of over active areas which
produce toxic by-products, injurious to the brain
    • Low oxygenated areas
    • Early signs of under functioning typically observed
      in pre-senile dementias
    • Early signs of an ageing brain
    • Diagnostic markers for epilepsy, ADHD, depression, anxiety,
      errors in alertness, arousal, concentration
    • The monitoring of any intervention, whether it is drugs, nutrition, counseling, hypnotherapy used for the purpose of improving the function of the brain

The electrical activity of the brain that stimulates the chemicals of the brain to function, and in turn these chemicals or neurotransmitters ‘control’ our thoughts, behaviors and actions.

The QEEG is a personal assessment of how your brain works and in turn from the analysis a neurofeedback or neuroperformance computerised program can be designed to specifically improve your brain function.

A health care practitioner treating you for various health concerns will use the analysis to assess your improvement and progress.

Who can benefit from QEEG and neurofeedback therapy available at Salus with Dr. Stephen Sexton?

Individuals with:

  • Dyslexia
  • Learning difficulties
  • Memory problems
  • Mood disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Epilepsy

  • Athletes
  • Students wishing to improve academic outcomes
  • Business people
  • People wanting to change behaviors no longer productive
  • Retraining of muscles, including the bladder

During a neurofeedback session you will receive both audio and visual feedback via a computer when the brainwave activity corrects at predetermined areas of the brain, set in accordance to the QEEG analysis.

This feedback is important as we are normally unaware of the types of brainwaves we produce under certain situations thus we have very little ability to control or manipulate them positively. Neurofeedback therapy opens up this possibility of training the brain to sustain optimal high performance activity.
